MISSILE BASE
The United States will officially open a new air defence
base in northern Poland on Wednesday, as Warsaw seeks to
reassure citizens that NATO guarantees their security amid
jitters after Donald Trump's presidential election victory.
PKO
PKO BP CEO Szymon Midera told Dziennik Gazeta Prawna daily
that the bank's new strategy assumes increasing the number of
customers by three million in three years. It is primarily
focused on organic growth, but is also analysing the
possibilities for acquisitions, he said.
AUTOMOTIVE INDUSTRY
The collapse in the European automotive industry has reached
Poland and almost every third company is already planning
layoffs, Rzeczpospolita daily reported.
ENERGY
In the early 2030s, Poland may lack almost 9.5 GW of power,
Rzeczpospolita reported citing documents it obtained from grid
operator PSE. The problems will start earlier - in 2026, the
shortage of power for electricity production may reach 4.2 GW,
the newspaper reported.
GOVERNMENT
The new government representative for strategic energy
infrastructure will be Wojciech Wrochna, a lawyer and expert in
energy issues, who previously worked as an advisor to companies
such as PGE EJ1 and PSE, Puls Biznesu daily reported.
PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION
A survey by IBRiS for Rzeczpospolita shows that nearly half
of respondents are convinced that the outcome of the U.S.
elections will influence the decisions of Polish parties
regarding presidential candidates.
