INTEREST RATES
If the new inflation projection shows a risk of inflation in Poland remaining at an elevated level in the long term, the Monetary Policy Council should raise interest rates this year, Polish central banker Ludwik Kotecki was quoted as saying by Puls Biznesu daily.

STARLINK STATION
A blaze at a Starlink station in Poland that engulfed its power system and backup generator on Wednesday evening was an act of sabotage aimed at disrupting internet services, including for Ukraine's military, a government minister said.

KNIFEMAN 
A man armed with a knife killed a priest and injured four other people during an attack on clergy and worshippers at a Benedictine abbey in southern Poland on Thursday, authorities said.

PZU-PEKAO MERGER
Poland is seeking an alternative way to reorganise its biggest insurer PZU PZU.WA as legislative changes required to implement the initial plan face the risk of presidential vetoes, the state assets minister said.
