Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has initiated two
closed-door probes into Chinese election interference that will
be reviewed by a special rapporteur after facing growing calls
to investigate Beijing's influence activities.
Two influential proxy advisers recommended shareholders vote
against efforts by Ritchie Bros. Auctioneers Inc RBA.TO for
major expansion in the United States, making it more challenging
for the Canadian company to pull off its planned $6-billion
takeover of a U.S. auto retailer.
Canada Pension Plan Investment Board is teaming up with U.S.
private equity firm Silver Lake on a proposal to buy experience
management software company Qualtrics International Inc XM.O
for $12.4-billion in what would be one of the largest buyouts
this year.
