U.S. stock indexes were trading lower on Thursday, as a batch of weak quarterly
reports dampened a robust earnings season and trade tensions rose on news the
European Union may retaliate if United States slaps tariffs on EU cars.  .N 

At 9:59 ET, the Dow Jones Industrial Average  .DJI  was down 0.53 percent at
25,066.23. The S&P 500  .SPX  was down 0.48 percent at 2,802.1 and the Nasdaq
Composite  .IXIC  was down 0.47 percent at 7,817.817.
