 TRANSACTION IN OWN SHARES

 On 22 April 2024, The Scottish Oriental Smaller Companies Trust plc (the
 "Company") purchased 5,000 of its own ordinary shares of 25p to be held in
 Treasury at a price of 1,340.00p per share.

 The Company's issued share capital now consists of 31,413,663 ordinary shares,
 of which 7,571,812 ordinary shares are held in Treasury.  Therefore, the
 total number of shares with voting rights in the Company is 23,841,851.

 The above figure (23,841,851 shares) may be used by shareholders as the
 denominator for the calculations by which they will determine if they are
 required to notify their interest in, or a change to their interest in, the
 Company under the Disclosure Guidance and Transparency Rules.
