U.S. stocks opened lower on Tuesday as President Donald Trump's
latest threat to impose duties on additional Chinese goods
heightened worries that tit-for-tat tariffs could spiral into a
trade war.  .N 
    At 9:47 a.m. ET, the Dow Jones Industrial Average  .DJI  was
down 1.25 percent at 24,674.16. The S&P 500  .SPX  was down 0.72
percent at 2,753.81 and the Nasdaq Composite  .IXIC  was down
0.68 percent at 7,694.643.
