** Shares of drug developer Trevena TRVN.O rise more than
43% to 51 cents premarket
** Co reports positive pre-clinical data from two separate
research collaborations testing its experimental drug, TRV045,
in mouse models
** One of the studies tests TRV045 for nerve-related pain
** The other, in collaboration with National Institutes of
Health, evaluates it as a seizures protection treatment in
epilepsy
** TRV045 shows potential to consistently reduce
nerve-related pain in mouse models over a long period, and does
not lose its effectiveness over time
** In the NIH study, TRV045 raises level at which seizures
may occur to make seizures less likely and shows seizures
protection
** TRV045 does not show statistically significant effect of
how epilepsy develops in mouse models, but co says results
provide direction for additional NIH-initiated studies in
epilepsy prevention and treatment
** As of last close, stock is down about 51% YTD
