The following factors could affect Italian markets on Friday.

    ECONOMY
    The government will hold a confidence vote on the 2023
budget on Friday to speed up its approval and ensure the package
becomes law by the end of this year.
    The vote will be held in the Chamber of Deputies, allowing
the complex bill to pass to the upper house Senate next week for
its final green light.
    ISTAT releases December consumer and business confidence
data (0900 GMT).
    COMPANIES

    An Italian administrative court on Thursday ruled against a
request for a precautionary halt on works to set up a new
liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal in the Tuscan port city of
Piombino, which Rome sees as key to helping wean Italy off
Russian gas.
    Italian gas grid operator Snam bought the LNG vessel in the
summer and is in charge of the whole project, including
connecting it to the national gas network and operating the
terminal.
    JUVENTUS  JUVE.MI 
    Italy's soccer prosecutors are seeking the partial
cancellation of a ruling that cleared Juventus and other clubs
and their executives following an accounting investigation
involving capital gains, the football federation (FIGC) said on
Thursday.
    NEXI  NEXII.MI  
    Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni said on Thursday the
government wanted payment firms and banks to agree to zero fees
on electronic payments in shops below certain thresholds. She
added in a television interview that the government was ready to
impose levies on payment firms and banks if they failed to scrap
fees on small purchases.
    ENEL  ENEI.MI 
    The Italian government is set to guarantee a 12 billion
euro($12.75 billion) bank credit facility for Italy's biggest
utility through the state credit export agency SACE, two sources
close to the matter said, as Rome moves to shield the country's
utilities against volatility on energy markets.
    MONTE DEI PASCHI  BMPS.MI 
    Shares closed on Thursday above the price of 2 euros ($2.13)
at which the state-owned Italian bank sold stock in a
make-or-break capital hike. Shares gained 3.3% to 2.04 euros,
ending the session for the first time above the price of the
cash call the Tuscan bank concluded in early November.
    FINCANTIERI  FTC.MI 
    The Italian shipbuilder said on Thursday it has signed a
contract to build a new Hydro-Oceanographic Ship (NIOM) for the
Italian Navy's Hydrographic Institute, with delivery scheduled
in 2026. The total value of the contract is approximately 280
million euros, the company said.
    TELECOM ITALIA (TIM)  TLIT.MI 
    A meeting between the Italian government and TIM's top
shareholders Vivendi  VIV.PA  and CDP on Thursday focused mainly
on job issues and debt, aiming to safeguard employment levels, a
source said. A new meeting, hopefully "decisive", is due to be
held probably on December 29, the source added.
    TERNA  TRN.MI 
    The Italian power grid group said on Thursday that, in
execution of the agreement signed on April 29, it has sold
Difebal S.A. - a company that holds a 214 km power line in
Uruguay - to investment group CDPQ. The equity value of the
transaction is more than 27 million euros ($28.57 million),
Terna said.
    BPER  EMII.MI , UNIPOL  UNPI.MI  
    The bank announced on Thursday it had renewed bancassurance
agreements with Unipol to last for five years from January 1.
    BE  BESTE.MI 
    Suspended for the first of two days ahead of de-listing on
Wednesday Dec. 28.
