Major Five Year Contract Win to support NUAR
1Spatial awarded prime contractor role to support next phase of major national
project
1Spatial, (AIM: SPA), a global leader in Location Master Data Management
(LMDM) software and solutions, is pleased to announce that, following a
competitive tender process, it has been awarded a contract by Ordnance Survey
Ltd to act as prime contractor, an upgrade on the Company's prior role, to
deliver the National Underground Asset Register (NUAR) Data Transformation and
Ingestion (DT&I) Service.
The delivery of the NUAR DT&I service, in partnership with Ordnance Survey
Ltd, has a contract value to 1Spatial of £4.2m incorporating licence revenue
of £1.5m. This covers an initial two-year term with the option to extend for
a further three years.
The NUAR Programme is a Government Digital Service (GDS) initiative - operated
by Ordnance Survey - to build a single digital map of underground pipes and
cables, revolutionising how sectors install, maintain, operate and repair
buried infrastructure in England, Wales and Northern Ireland. NUAR involves
transforming and ingesting data from over 600 public and private sector asset
owners, including utility companies and local authorities, delivered in varied
formats, scale and quality. This data is processed through the 1Spatial Data
Platform, which is designed to scale, enabling hundreds of asset owners to
seamlessly upload and transform their data with efficiency.
Currently, work on buried infrastructure requires contacting multiple
organisations and waiting over on average six days for information. NUAR will
make this data instantly available, 24/7. Once operational, NUAR is expected
to deliver over £400 million per year in economic growth through increased
efficiency, reduced asset strikes and fewer public disruptions, while
supporting the development of new roads, railways and housing.
This contract win builds on 1Spatial's strong delivery in the development
phase, as part of the team that launched the Minimum Viable Product (MVP).
1Spatial's collaborative team approach has been instrumental in establishing
NUAR.
The successful re-compete as prime contractor reinforces 1Spatial's technology
leadership, powering NUAR's evolution to improve efficiency, enhance safety,
and minimise disruption nationwide. NUAR is a key step in the digital
transformation of critical national infrastructure and is recognised as an
exemplar for embedding security-first principles in a programme of national
significance.
Claire Milverton, CEO of 1Spatial, commented: "We are delighted to continue
our collaboration with Ordnance Survey Ltd on this nationally significant
project, validating the strength of our product offering. The renewal and
upgrade of our role highlight our position as a trusted partner in delivering
innovative geospatial solutions that create long-term value for government,
industry and the public.
"NUAR will become one of the most comprehensive underground asset datasets
globally and a high-profile example of data integration at scale, with our
platform transforming fragmented records into a consistent, validated dataset.
The complexity of harmonising thousands of datasets represents a strong
barrier to entry to other vendors and with similar initiatives emerging
internationally, we are strongly positioned to leverage the strength of our
technology platform worldwide.
"Looking ahead, initiatives like NUAR, alongside platforms such as our
1Streetworks solution which already leverages authoritative geospatial data,
have the potential to transform industries."
Nick Lindsay, NUAR Business Lead at Ordnance Survey, added: "NUAR is a vital
step toward improving safety, efficiency and coordination across buried
infrastructure. We're pleased to continue our close collaboration with
1Spatial, whose technology plays a central role in facilitating automated data
governance, while delivering increased efficiencies on this critical project."
