U.S. stocks rose on Friday and the main indexes were set for weekly gains after
Goldman Sachs capped a strong earnings season for big banks, while a surprise
rise in retail sales raised optimism about economic recovery.  .N 
    At 10:17 ET, the Dow Jones Industrial Average  .DJI  was up 0.99% at
35,259.25. The S&P 500  .SPX  was up 0.64% at 4,466.54 and the Nasdaq Composite
 .IXIC  was up 0.24% at 14,858.31.
