** Stock last up 47.8%, heading for best day since November 2007, if current gains hold

** Energy co announces drilling results for its Essington-1 gas exploration well offshore Otway Basin, Victoria

** Says results show clear indications of gas-bearing sandstones in both the primary and secondary targets

** Stock up about 84% YTD, including the day's move
