U.S. stocks edged higher on Monday, with the S&P 500 and the Nasdaq hitting
record highs, as consumer spending rose in March and a benign inflation data
underscored the Federal Reserve's dovish stance on interest rates.  .N 
    
At 11:28 ET, the Dow Jones Industrial Average  .DJI  was unchanged at 26,544.16.
The S&P 500  .SPX  was up 0.12 percent at 2,943.36 and the Nasdaq Composite
 .IXIC  was up 0.17 percent at 8,159.933.
