Italy's A2A identifies Brescia, Cassano d'Adda sites for 100 MW of data centers
Italy's A2A identifies Brescia, Cassano d'Adda sites for 100 MW of data centers MILAN, July 30 (Reuters) - The Italian utility A2A A2.MI has identified sites for the development of a 20 MW data center in Brescia and an 80 MW data center in Cassano d’Adda, near Milan, CEO Renato Mazzoncini said on Thursday.
A2A sees 2026 hydropower output down at 3.9 TWh as northern snowfall falls 30%, Mazzoncini told analysts in a post-results conference call.
The data centers will be built on A2A-owned brownfield sites and are currently undergoing the permitting process.
The facility in Brescia will be connected to A2A's waste-to-energy plant and district heating network, making it a highly sustainable project.
The facility in Cassano d'Adda, near Milan, is aimed at hyperscale customers and more advanced AI applications.
Together, the Brescia and Cassano d'Adda projects represent about 100 MW of capacity.
A2A is targeting a broader portfolio of around 200 MW of data center capacity by 2035.
