Italy's A2A working to connect a dozen of data centres near Milan, CEO says

MILAN, June 6 (Reuters) - The Italian regional utility A2A A2.MI is working to activate power connections for a dozen of data centres in the area surrounding Italy's financial capital, Milan, its CEO Renato Mazzoncini said on Friday. The request for electricity coming from these new customers is higher than power demand of the whole city of Brescia, which is the second-largest in the northern region of Lombardy, Mazzoncini said. WHY IT'S IMPORTANT The comments are evidence of the rapid growth in electricity demand experienced by industrial areas in Italy, particularly Milan, as international technology groups roll out development plans for data centres in the country.
