** French-listed shares of Abivax ABVX.PA are up 6% after the
biotech company raised $800 million in an expanded share sale on
Wednesday
** The offering size increased from the initial $600 million
after the over-allotment option was exercised in full, bringing
the total number of American Depositary Shares (ADSs) issued to
7.36 million
** The offering implies a valuation of nearly $11 billion for
Abivax and eases pressure to pursue a near-term sale
** The company held talks with potential buyers in mid-June
but uncertainty about safety data in lead drug candidate
obefazimod led pharmaceutical companies to wait before any
potential transaction
** Abivax U.S.-listed shares closed at $132.56 on the Nasdaq on
Wednesday after falling as low as $72.50 last month, following
investor concerns over cancer cases reported in the obefazimod
trial
** Shares recovered most losses on earlier this week after
additional safety data reassured investors
** Including today's rise, the group's Paris-listed shares
have gained 3.4% YTD, while the stock was down 2.4% YTD at
yesterday's close
