(Adds approval by lawmakers in parliament)
ROME, Dec 17 (Reuters) - Italy could extend the licences
held by power distributors by as much as 20 years in exchange
for further investments in the electricity grid, according to an
amendment to the 2025 budget approved in the lower house of
parliament.
A previous version of the plan had proposed extending the
licences of companies such as Enel ENEI.MI , A2A A2.MI and
ACEA ACE.MI by as much as 40 years.
The licences expire in 2030, but the law says a decision on
how to manage the end of the concession should be taken by 2025.
Italy's parliament is due to approve the budget by the end
of December.
