April 29 (Reuters) - India's Adani Power ADAN.NS fourth quarter profit jumped 52.3% to 40.17 billion rupees ($423.53 million), helped by a one-time gain of 7.93 billion rupees.

The thermal power firm recorded a one-time gain of 7.93 billion rupees related to deferred tax expense after its amalgamation with its Jharkhand unit.
Revenue from operations fell 0.1% to 142.23 billion rupees, even as power sales volumes rose 3.4%.
Total expenses increased 2.9% year-on-year.
Adani Power said power demand was affected by cold weather and unseasonal rains in the fourth quarter, but demand has resumed with the onset of warmer climate.
According to analysts at CLSA, India's March-quarter base power demand rose modestly at 0.7% year-on-year as temperatures moderated across much of North and West India.
CEO S B Khyalia said thermal power was helping stabilise the grid and meet peak demand in the midst of a global energy price shock and as India scales up renewable energy.
