U.S. stocks eked out gains on Tuesday, helped by technology stocks, but the
likelihood of a protracted trade war between the United States and China kept
investors on the sidelines. .N 
    At 11:46 ET, the Dow Jones Industrial Average  .DJI  was up 0.07% at
25,603.68. The S&P 500  .SPX  was up 0.07% at 2,828.03 and the Nasdaq Composite
 .IXIC  was up 0.36% at 7,664.457.
