Polish media group Agora plans job cuts in digital shift

Dec 30 (Reuters) - Polish media group Agora AGOP.WA on Tuesday said it planned to lay off up to 166 employees, or 6.56% of its workforce, as part of a restructuring to improve its digital business.

The company aims to eliminate redundant positions and automate some processes within its digital operating model, which it described as "not effective".

The layoffs will primarily affect subsidiaries Wyborcza, Gazeta.pl and Eurozet Consulting, with respective staff reductions of 13.5%, 25.8% and 20.6% by the end of February, following consultations with trade unions and employee representatives.

Another 30 employees will leave parent company Agora and its radio units, though these are not part of the formal group layoff procedure.

A provision for the restructuring costs will be reflected in Agora's fourth-quarter results.
