** Shares of drug developer Akebia Therapeutics Inc AKBA.O
rise 3.3% to $1.24 premarket
** Co says it has completed meeting with the U.S. Food and
Drug Administration (FDA) to discuss resubmission of marketing
application for its drug to treat anemia due to chronic kidney
disease (CKD)
** The drug candidate, vadadustat, is being developed to
treat anemia due to CKD in adult patients on dialysis - AKBA
** FDA had earlier denied AKBA's application for vadadustat,
citing safety concerns and inadequate data
** AKBA now plans to resubmit its application for vadadustat
by the end of Q3 2023
** Up to last close, AKBA shares more than doubled YTD
