Aker BP nudges up Johan Sverdrup field stake following review, gains more oil June 8 (Reuters) - Norway's Aker BP AKRBP.OL said on Monday a redetermination process will slightly increase its stake in Johan Sverdrup, western Europe's largest producing oil field, granting it more output.
Its stake in the field in the North Sea will rise to 31.7% from 31.6%, Aker BP said in a statement.
The redetermination process, initiated in January 2025, revised ownership shares based on updated technical and production data.
Aker BP will receive an additional 2.2 million barrels of oil equivalent from the field over the next two years, reflecting a reallocation of historic production volumes.
Aker BP will pay around 300 million crowns ($31.7 million) before tax to reflect its share of past investment.
The redetermination does not affect ongoing operations at Johan Sverdrup, which is operated by Equinor EQNR.OL.
TotalEnergies TTEF.PA and Aker BP in 2025 sought an independent review of their stakes in the oilfield with a goal of boosting their holdings.
