MILAN, Nov 12 (Reuters) - Italian energy group Alerion
Clean Power ARN.MI said on Tuesday it had set up a 50-50 joint
venture with a unit of regional utility Alperia to develop and
manage a portfolio of wind farms in the southern region of
Puglia.
WHY IT'S IMPORTANT
Italy is behind schedule to meet its renewable power
generation targets for 2030 and needs to speed up the
development of wind projects, which so far have faced more
resistance from local people compared to solar farms.
BY THE NUMBERS
The joint venture will operate existing wind farms with an
installed capacity of 62 megawatt (MW) and develop wind projects
worth 58 MW.
Alerion - which was advised by Rothschild on the deal - will
pocket more than 60 million euros ($63.66 million) from the sale
of half of its wind farms in Puglia and some loans linked to
them to Alperia.
