** Shares of Allegiance Coal Ltd  AHQ.AX  fall as much as 4%
to A$0.480, their lowest since Dec 20
    ** The coal explorer says the New Elk mine in Colorado has
experienced a rapid number of COVID-19 cases due to escalation
of the Omicron variant across the United States [https://bit.ly/3Fl2m42
]
    ** Says 22 of the total 53 underground production crew have
tested positive
    ** Adds that it expects some more cases from the mine
    ** Stock has added 2% this year as of last close
