Lockmaker Allegion raises annual profit forecast on non-residential demand
Lockmaker Allegion raises annual profit forecast on non-residential demand July 23 (Reuters) - Allegion ALLE.N raised its full-year profit forecast on Thursday, expecting continued demand for its premium locks and electronic access systems in commercial buildings, sending its shares up 8% in premarket trading.
U.S. homebuilder sentiment unexpectedly fell in July due to economic uncertainty and high mortgage rates amid the conflict in the Middle East, but higher pricing helped offset the impact.
CEO John Stone said the Americas non-residential business remained strong, while Allegion's international team focused on execution and cost discipline amid weak demand in parts of Europe.
For the full year, Allegion now expects adjusted earnings per share to range between $8.85 and $9, compared with its earlier forecast of $8.70 to $8.90.
Sales in Allegion's Americas division rose 11.8% during the second quarter.
Its international operations posted a 16.2% increase in revenue.
Allegion reported an adjusted quarterly profit of $2.40 per share, above analysts' estimates of $2.22.
The Dublin-based lockmaker's quarterly revenue rose 12.7% to $1.15 billion, beating the average analyst estimate of $1.12 billion.
