Poland's competition watchdog searches Allegro offices in Poznan, Warsaw (updated)

Adds Allegro's response in paragraphs 5-7

Feb 26 (Reuters) - Poland's antimonopoly office UOKiK said on Thursday it had searched the headquarters of e-commerce platform Allegro ALEP.WA in Poznan and its offices in Warsaw as part of explanatory proceedings.

The searches were related to suspicions that Allegro may have favoured its own logistics services over those of its competitors, potentially breaching competition rules, UOKiK said.

"The suspicions of a breach of competition rules were serious enough that we applied to the court and obtained permission for a search," UOKiK President Tomasz Chrostny said in the statement.

Poland's largest online shopping platform has been building up its logistics network to compete with rivals such as InPost INPST.AS. In September, the company said it would accelerate its parcel locker rollout.

In a statement emailed to Reuters, Allegro spokesperson Marcin Gruszka confirmed the searches took place and called them a standard element of the regulator's procedures.

"From the very beginning ... we have been fully cooperating with the Office, providing all required documents and information at its request. We ensure full transparency and further cooperation," Gruszka said.

"We are convinced that our actions remain fully compliant with the applicable laws and the principles of fair competition," he added.

Allegro's shares were down 2% at 1110 GMT, adding to their around 11% drop since the start of the year.
