Alterity Therapeutics soars on patent win for neurodegenerative treatments

** Shares of the Australian drug developer  ATH.AX  surge as
much as 17.5% to A$0.023, on track to mark their best session
since July 15 
    ** Says the United States Patent and Trademark Office
granted co a new U.S. patent for compounds for neurodegenerative

    ** Says patent covers more than 80 novel compounds and
secures exclusivity for a new class of iron to help redistribute
the excess iron implicated in many neurodegenerative diseases
    ** Shares hit their highest levels since Dec. 14 
    ** More than 20.9 mln shares change hands, compared with the
30-day average volume of ~4.5 mln shares  
    ** Stock has fallen 32.3% in 2021, as of last close
