Brazil oil regulator approves more firms for 13th-round oil auction (updated)

    SAO PAULO, Aug 25 (Reuters) - Brazil's oil regulator ANP 
said on Tuesday it had approved an additional 22 companies to 
participate in the so-called 13th-round auction of oil 
exploration and production rights set for October 7. 
    The 22 approved companies announced on Tuesday include 
Norway's Statoil ASA  STL.OL , France's Total SA  TOTF.PA , 
Anadarko Petroleum Corp  APC.N  and ExxonMobil Corp  XOM.N , 
join 12 firms already approved by ANP last week, according to an 
e-mailed statement from the regulator. 
    With 12 companies approved last week, the approvals 
announced Tuesday bring the total number of companies authorized 
to participate in the auction to 35, according to the ANP Web 
site.
