Factbox: Storms cut power to 396,000 customers in US Midwest, Mid-Atlantic; Ohio hardest hit

NEW YORK, March 13 (Reuters) - Over 396,000 homes and businesses were without power on Friday as severe storms battered the U.S. Midwest and Mid-Atlantic region, according to data from PowerOutage.us.

The hardest-hit state was Ohio, with around 123,000 outages, representing about 2.3% of the state's roughly 5.4 million customers, according to the data.

The hardest-hit utility in Ohio was a unit of American Electric Power AEP.O, with around 40,000 homes and businesses in the state without service. AEP provides service to around 1.5 million electric customers in Ohio, the data showed.
