Factbox: Storms cut power to 836,000 customers in US Midwest, Mid-Atlantic; Ohio hardest hit

NEW YORK, March 13 (Reuters) - More than 836,000 homes and businesses were without power on Friday as severe storms battered the U.S. Midwest and Mid-Atlantic region, according to data from PowerOutage.us.

The hardest-hit state was Ohio, with around 412,850 outages, representing about 7.6% of the state's roughly 5.4 million customers, according to the data.

The hardest-hit utility in Ohio was a unit of FirstEnergy with around 172,850 homes and businesses in the state without service, followed by American Electric Power AEP.O, with around 114,560. FirstEnergy FE.N provides service to around 6.2 million electric customers while AEP provides service to around 1.5 million electric customers in Ohio.
