Wall Street's main indexes were muted in choppy trading after China increased its tariffs on U.S. imports to 125%, escalating a trade war that has hit global markets recently, while results from big Wall Street banks set the earnings season rolling. .N

At 13:30 EDT, the Dow Jones Industrial Average .DJI was up 0.78% at 39,902.70. The S&P 500 .SPX was up 0.90% at 5,315.66 and the Nasdaq Composite .IXIC was up 0.97% at 16,554.28.
