Italy's Anemos buys Apulian taralli maker to build savoury snack leader
Italy's Anemos buys Apulian taralli maker to build savoury snack leader MILAN, July 21 (Reuters) - Italy's Anemos Private Investments, a private equity firm part of family office Samhita, said it had closed the acquisition of Terre di Puglia, a producer of Apulian taralli.
Terre di Puglia founder and Chief Executive Nicola Visaggio and two other top managers will retain a significant stake in the group and continue to lead the business.
Founded in 2003, Terre di Puglia is close to completing a new production facility in Andria, in northern Apulia, which is expected to triple production capacity.
Anemos and Terre di Puglia aim to pursue a 'buy-and-build' expansion strategy to create a leader in the savoury snack sector.
Taralli are small ring-shaped crackers made of flour, olive oil, wine and salt and are typical of the southern region of Apulia.
Samhita is the family office of Paolo Basilico, a veteran Italian financier who founded asset manager Kairos Partners, which is now part of fund manager Anima Holding ANIM.MI.
