April 30 (Reuters) - Luxembourg-based steel group Aperam APAM.AS on Wednesday reported higher-than-expected first-quarter core profit, as the consolidation of Universal Stainless partly offset lower shipments in Brazil and pricing pressures.
The group recorded adjusted earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) at 86 million euros ($97.80 million) in the first quarter, while analysts expected 84 million euros on average, according to a company-compiled consensus.
