The Nasdaq fell on Tuesday in the run-up to a key inflation reading and the
start of third-quarter results from companies amid falling profit expectations,
while gains in drugmaker Amgen helped boost the Dow. .N 
    At 12:38 PM ET, the Dow Jones Industrial Average  .DJI  was up 0.99% at
29544. The S&P 500  .SPX  was up 0.39% at 3639.25, and the Nasdaq Composite
 .IXIC  was down 0.01% at 10,981.8.
