Japan truck merger is push towards zero emissions -Daimler Truck CEO

BERLIN, May 30 (Reuters) - Economies of scale are the
only way to achieve the transformation to zero emissions,
Daimler Truck CEO Martin Daum said on Tuesday as he announced
the combination of its Japanese truck unit with the Toyota
subsidiary Hino Motors Ltd.
    "We are accelerating towards zero emissions, but there is
one major challenge and this is the required funding," Daum said
during a press conference. "There is only one way to make this
parallel tech development work: economies of scale."
