** Shares of Associated Banc-Corp ASB.N rise 9% to $23.98 after the bell

** Co reports Q1 profit of $98.8 mln or 59 cents per share, up 26.2% from the year-ago period

** Analysts, on average, had expected EPS of 58 cents per share

** Net interest income rises 10.9% to $285.9 mln

** Co's provision for credit losses falls 45.8% to $13 mln

** ASB shares are down ~8% this year, they gained 11.7% in 2024
