AB Foods shares fall on plans for Primark demerger

** Shares of Associated British Foods ABF.L down 6.6% at 1,761.5p, top losers in the FTSE 100 Index .FTSE

** Company plans to separate its Primark fashion chain and food businesses into two FTSE 100 companies

** Separately, ABF also said an encouraging start to spring/summer trading in March was followed by softer trading in April, as it started to see the impact of the Middle East conflict on customers

** Co flagged a risk to Primark sales if the conflict persists as it posted a 2% decline in group revenue and an 18% drop in its adjusted operating profit for the first-half of the year

** YTD, stock has fallen ~17%
