Amazon shares climb after $25 billion deal pledge to Anthropic for AI growth

** Shares of Amazon AMZN.O rise ~3% to $255.09 in premarket trading

** Company said on Monday it plans to invest up to $25 billion in AI startup Anthropic, while Anthropic has agreed to spend more than $100 billion over the next decade on company's  cloud services

** J.P. Morgan says the expanded Amazon-Anthropic commitments improve near- and medium-term visibility for the Trainium ecosystem and related cluster infrastructure, which is a positive read-through for company's semiconductor suppliers Marvell Technology MRVL.O and Astera Labs ALAB.O

** Amazon CEO Andy Jassy said in a statement that Anthropic's use of Trainium chips "reflects the progress we've made together on custom silicon"

** Anthropic wants to gain an edge in AI, with models focused on coding and design, while Amazon looks to attract users to its custom AI chips

** Seventy-one analysts rate the stock "buy" on average; median PT is $285 - data compiled by LSEG

** As of last day's close, stock up 7.5% YTD
