Aumovio explores expansion beyond automotive, eyes defence and robotics

May 7 (Reuters) - Aumovio AMV0n.DE is reviewing potential new growth areas though no decisions have yet been made, its finance chief told Reuters, preparing investors for a strategic pivot beyond its automotive routes.

Speaking to Reuters after the group's first-quarter results on Thursday, CFO Jutta Doenges said management remains in an exploratory phase, assessing opportunities in emerging sectors, including among others defense and human robotics.

"There's a broad range of applications we are looking into, and it is obviously something where we are good at," Doenges said, adding that it is difficult to give further details before any formal decisions are made.

The planned shift will soon be reflected in the company's governance framework. At next week's annual shareholders meeting, Aumovio will ask shareholders to approve a broader corporate plan, giving the company greater flexibility to expand beyond its traditional automotive focus, without abandoning its established core operations.

A comprehensive strategic review is expected to be completed over the summer, with a more detailed update on potential new business lines planned for later this year, the CFO said.
