Global launch of latest autonomous airside vehicle as part of project with
UPS, Innovate UK, Centre for Connected and Autonomous Vehicles ("CCAV") and
East Midlands Airport

Aurrigo International plc (AIM: AURR), a leading international provider of
transport technology solutions, announces the launch of Auto-Cargo®, its
largest autonomous aviation vehicle to date. This marks the latest development
following a project initiated in September 2023 in collaboration with UPS.

 

Auto-Cargo® is a fully autonomous electric vehicle designed to move heavy
cargo loads to and from aircraft, built using a combination of highly
engineered hardware and Aurrigo's proprietary autonomous software.  The cargo
solution offers the potential to transform handling operations by carrying a
total payload of 16,500kg when towing a standard trailer, as well as being
fully electric and emissions-free versus incumbent diesel vehicles currently
in use.

 

Backed by funding from Innovate UK and Centre for Connected and Autonomous
Vehicles (CCAV), the new Auto-Cargo® vehicle will now go on trial to move
heavy cargo loads to and from aircraft at UPS's hub at East Midlands Airport,
the UK's second largest cargo terminal.

 

With precision automation, advanced obstacle detection, and real-time fleet
coordination, the vehicle promises to reduce stress on workers, enhance
safety, and optimise on-the-ground performance.

 

Commenting on the launch, the Minister for Industry and Decarbonisation, Sarah
Jones, said: "Our modern Industrial Strategy will help build on successes
like Aurrigo's autonomous technology, bringing growth, jobs and opportunities
to every part of the UK and delivering on our Plan for Change.

 

"By working in partnership with industry, we want to drive forward innovation
and propel the development of next generation zero emission and automated
vehicle technologies."
