Aug 27 (Reuters) - U.S. stocks are falling in early trading
on Wednesday, with the S&P 500 slightly off from the 2,000 mark
it closed above for the first time the previous day.
Shares of retailers surged after several companies reported
beating analysts' expectations for earnings before the bell.
Arts and crafts retailer Michaels Companies MIK.O was among
the biggest movers, rising 8.5 percent to $16.43 after the
company reported quarterly losses but better-than-expected sales
growth.
Shares of Tiffany & Company TIF.N also gained in early
morning trading, rising 1.1 percent to $101.89 as the S&P's
biggest percentage gainer. The luxury jewelry retailer raised
its full-year profit forecast after seeing demand for its goods
drive a surge in sales in the last quarter. ID:nL3N0QX3MX
Interest in wearable cameras for law enforcement officers
continued to drive shares of Image Sensing Systems ISNS.O up.
The stock rose 20 percent to $4.08 in heavy volume, with more
than 9.9 million shares changing hands in the first half hour of
trading.
