ROME, Aug 14 (Reuters) - Italy could intervene further
in the country's business sector, targeting public concessions
for toll roads and airports, a senior government official said
on Monday, which marks the fifth anniversary of the deadly Genoa
bridge collapse.
The comments by senior government undersecretary
Giovanbattista Fazzolari come after Rome last week shocked
markets with a surprise one-off tax on bank profits.
"We should expect, without punitive intents, the state to
act again as the state when it comes to relations with the main
financial, economic and industrial players", Fazzolari told
daily La Verità.
"Another area where we'll tidy things up is public
concessions," he said suggesting Rome could review public
contracts for toll road and airport operators.
