** Shares of AMEX-listed Avalon Holdings Corp  AWX.A  jump
58.6 pct premarket to $4.60
    ** Quarterly profit jumps 6x YoY to $600,000 and revenue
rose 14.4 pct to $16.7 mln
    ** The waste management and golf course operator had unusual
trading activity that continued for five straight sessions about
two weeks ago, AWX also had a noticeable rise in shorting during

    ** Short interest on AWX's free float, as of July 31, was
53.27 pct - TR data 
    ** However, AWX shares gained as much as 500 pct during
their five day rally but slumped for two straight sessions
