ATHENS, Feb 4 (Reuters) - Greece has received non-binding
bids for several rail projects across the country with an
estimated cost totalling 4 billion euros ($4.6 billion), a
source from the state-owned railway operator OSE said on Friday.
OSE, which manages Greece's railway network of more than
2,200 km (1,375 miles), has tendered six projects which aim to
expand and upgrade existing rail infrastructure.
Investors who have expressed initial interest for five of
the projects were consortiums Avax-Alstom Transport,
Terna-Intrakat and Aktor-Mytilineos.
Avax-Alstom Transport, Terna, Aktor-Mytilineos and Intrakat
also bid for building a rail link to the northern Greek port of
Thessaloniki and a suburban railway in the city.
OSE will now have to decide which investors qualify to
proceed to the next stage of submitting binding bids, said the
source familiar with the matter.
