-  SpaceX, Elon Musk’s rocket and satellite maker, filed confidentially on Wednesday for an initial public offering, setting the stage for what could be one of the largest offerings ever.

- A "system failure" caused a robotaxi outage involving multiple vehicles operated by Baidu's Apollo Go in central China's Wuhan, re-igniting safety concerns over the fast-growing service.

- Top automakers General Motors GM.N and Toyota 7203.T  reported lower first-quarter sales in the U.S., as economic uncertainty, high borrowing costs and vehicle prices kept buyers on the sidelines.

- Senate and House Republican leaders announced an agreementto move forward with legislation to reopen the Department of Homeland Security, resurrecting a bipartisan deal that U.S. President Trump and the House G.O.P. had angrily rejected last week.
