INTEREST RATES
Poland's central bank left its main interest rate PLINTR=ECI unchanged at 4.00% on Wednesday, opting to wait for new macroeconomic forecasts to be released in March to better assess the prospects for any further rate cuts.
On Thursday at 1400 there will be a press conference by the Governor of the National Bank of Poland (NBP), Adam Glapiński, who will present the justification for the decision of the Monetary Policy Council (MPC).
REUTERS FX POLL
The forint is likely to fall from two-year highs against the euro in the coming months, although the Hungarian currency and others in central Europe should still stay close to recent peaks, a Reuters poll forecast on Wednesday.
CRITICAL MATERIALS
After a ministerial forum on critical minerals at the U.S. State Department on Wednesday, Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski said at a briefing for Polish media that the United States had launched a major international initiative to ensure critical minerals cannot be used for coercion, adding that Poland and the EU backed efforts to diversify production geographically as a matter of economic and supply‑chain security.
POLAND'S GDANSK RAFINERY
Poland's Gdansk refinery will start cyclical maintenance at the end of February, the company said on Wednesday, with the shutdown of key units planned for April.
BANK MILLENNIUM
Poland's Bank Millennium MILP.WA, the Polish arm of Portugal's Millennium bcp BCP.LS, is expected to post a fourth-quarter net profit of 330 million zlotys ($92.31 million), a Reuters poll showed on Wednesday.
FITCH
Fitch Ratings sees Poland's fiscal deficit at around 7% of GDP in 2026 and expects it to fall below 6% only in 2028, the rating agency's main analyst for Poland said on Wednesday.
