PARIS, Jan 13 (Reuters) - France's Banijay Group BNJ.AS, owner of the "Big Brother" franchise, said on Tuesday it was in talks with All3Media owner RedBird IMI to merge their TV production businesses confirming an earlier report by Reuters.
No decision has been made on a possible deal and there is no assurance the current talks would lead to a transaction, Banijay said in a statement.
A merger would create one of Europe's largest production groups, with a slate of shows including "Survivor", "Peaky Blinders" and "Race Across the World". Such a deal would be another move by legacy TV industry to compete with streaming giants in the region.
