Q1 net profit seen up nearly 65% year-on-year

April 24 (Reuters) - Poland's Bank Millennium MILP.WA is expected to report a first-quarter net profit of 295 million zlotys ($82 million), up nearly 65% from a year earlier, a Reuters poll showed on Friday.
The rise is driven by lower legal provisions for the bank's Swiss franc mortgage portfolio, which offset the impact of falling interest rates and an income tax hike for banks.
The bank's net interest income is forecast to fall by nearly 2% year-on-year to 1.4 billion zlotys after Poland's central bank cut interest rates several times from May 2025, bringing the benchmark down to 3.75% from 5.75%.
Net fee and commission income is expected to rise by more than 14% to 209 million zlotys.
