On Thursday, the statistical office will release data on industrial production in Poland for April. Analysts polled by Reuters estimate that the pace slowed to 4.2% year-on-year from 9.4% in March. Data on wages in April will also be released, which are estimated to have increased by 6.0%, compared to a 6.6% increase in March.
WINDFALL TAX
Poland will next week propose a windfall tax on oil and gas companies' profits from surging energy prices due to the Iran war, to help cover the cost of national fuel tax cuts, the country's state secretary for energy told Reuters on Wednesday.
HUNGARY'S PM VISIT POLAND
Hungarian Prime Minister Peter Magyar could meet Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy in June if a deal on Hungarian minority rights is reached, he said on Wednesday, striking an optimistic tone about a key issue for Kyiv's EU accession hopes.
