U.S. stock indexes treaded water on Monday, as gains in financials were offset
by losses in Amazon and industrials, as investors waited for earnings reports
from marquee corporations to assess the impact of an escalating U.S.-China trade
conflict. .N 
    At 12:24 ET, the Dow Jones Industrial Average  .DJI  was up 0.04 percent at
25,067.68. The S&P 500  .SPX  was up 0.16 percent at 2,806.41 and the Nasdaq
Composite  .IXIC  was up 0.20 percent at 7,836.201.
