HALF TIME IN EUROPE, MINERS IN A HOLE
We're at the half way point in the day, plus a bit of injury time, and European shares have been grinding lower, with the broad STOXX 600 was last down 0.6%. .STOXX
Miners area leading the decline, down 3% .SXPP as Fed's hawkish moves overnight and the resulting higher dollar weighed on commodity prices, especially precious metals. GOL/
Britain's basic resource-heavy FTSE is also underperforming, down around 1%. .FTSE
It's been a busy morning for central bankers too, though there were few fireworks. The Bank of England, Swiss National Bank and Norges Bank all held rates steady, as markets had expected.
And those holds, in comparison with the hawkish Fed have been weighing on European currencies. Sterling is down 0.6%, while the dollar is up a similar amount on the Swiss franc and Norwegian crown. GBP=, CHF=, NOK=
